Soccer Saturday

We started our Saturday at the soccer fields.  Addyson’s game was first and the girls were ready to play!

Addyson is not very aggressive with the ball but really enjoys being out on the field playing.  In the beginning she would get upset when she was not the one everyone was cheering for but now I love hearing her cheer on her teammates. 

This was at the end of the game.  She was tired and wanted to be done.  I didn’t realize at the time she probably didn’t feel good.  She woke up from her nap with a fever and really sore throat. 

We had to wait around for an hour before Hayden’s game.  We let the kids play at the playground for awhile and then I made Hayden cool off before his game. 

Today was a big game for Hayden.  He scored his first goal on the season!  He also got to play goalie.  The picture below shows about all the action he saw as goalie.  I think he was a little disappointed he didn’t get to do more!

This is Hayden’s favorite part of soccer, knocking people down.  We have really stressed that this is not football and that he needs to stay on his feet.  He did really well today and made several good plays. 

Fun All Around

 

We have been extremely busy the past couple of weeks.We have soccer practice twice a week, church on Wednesday, and dance on Friday.  Needless, to say I LOVE our one day off. 

After school Hayden and his friend Reed wanted a mustache that my students used to pretend they were detectives. 

Addyson has made a friend at Hayden’s soccer practice.  Hannah and Addyson play so well together.  They run around and have a ball the entire time.  One time Hannah ran up to her mom and said she was done and that Addyson never tires. 

Last Friday night Hayden went to his first Boy Scout meeting.  He really seemed to enjoy it.  Grant and Hayden have been working on memorizing the pledge and have now moved on to the Law of the Pack.  And now we are selling popcorn!

Since I am coaching Addyson’s team I can’t take pictures while she plays, but here is a picture of her team at half time. The first game was horrific but last week was much better.  The girls had fun and we actually scored!!

After the game on Saturday we drove to Paducah to watch Grant race in the dragon boat race.  We barely got there before he raced but we made it.  My pictures didn’t turn out but the kids wanted to get their picture in front of the train. 

Monday I had meetings all day and Hayden didn’t have school so Mom came and watched the kids.  I took the picture before I left.  Addyson loved getting a day off as well.

SOCCER

 

Yesterday was the day of the fall soccer season.  This is Addyson’s first time playing.  They were both were pretty excited. 

Hayden’s game was first so Addyson just chilled on the field for a little bit. 

Hayden is playing in the U8 division for the first time and has a lot of new rules to learn.  Most of his team played together this past spring so Hayden is very inexperienced compared to the others but he is learning.  

One of my students stopped by and played with Addyson for a little while.  It was a great distraction for her. 

As you can tell, I think Addyson has just as much fun at Hayden’s game as she does playing at hers. 

Hayden got to do a corner kick for the first time.  The referee was very kind and tried to help Hayden but it ended up doing more harm than good.  He just kicked it out of bounds. 

Hayden’s team dominated.  I think the other team just scored just one goal.  His team scored too many for me to remember exactly.

There are no pictures from Addyson’s game because I was coaching.  The game was very hard to watch.  Most of the girls on the team have never played before and don’t want to run.  Hopefully we will improve as the season goes on. 

Birthday Party

 

The kids and I drove to Sebree yesterday afternoon to help celebrate Kaleb and Audra’s birthday! 

The kids had a blast in the pool playing together.  Kelby smoked some ribs and everyone had fun visiting. 

Harper didn’t want to get in the pool and Addyson was making funny faces at him. 

Labor Day Weekend

We started this long weekend cleaning house and mowing the lawn.  We left Sunday after church for Evansville.  We took the kids to see an Otter’s baseball game.  The kids seemed to enjoy the game, but honestly I don’t know if they even watched one single pitch.  

They had fun eating their snacks and playing with the mascot that kept coming around. 

Addyson made a friend during the rain delay over popsicles and balloons.  Grant and I even got a little bored but were entertained by the coach and umpire.  Their constant fighting made for an interesting game. 

We did leave during the rain delay and went to get some real supper.  Then we headed back the hotel for story from Daddy and then the kids went to bed!

The next morning we ate breakfast at the hotel and got ready for the zoo.  Both kids seemed to be most excited about the animals that they could see around the house, like deer, turtles, and donkeys. 

Hayden did like visiting the otters.  I have a picture of him when he was much smaller at this same spot. 

Having the kids wear the same color shirt was not planned but was helpful since they are starting to think they can be independent.

Grant almost matched as well.  We had a wonderful visit to the zoo and then a nice lunch out.  While I wanted to do some shopping the kids were just to tired and cranky so we drove home while they slept.  I Love long weekends!
