Grant and I just got back from our cruise celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary! We had a wonderful time. We got on the Carnival Breeze last Sunday afternoon in Miami Florida. This is Carnival’s newest and biggest ship. There were around 6,000 passengers and 1,400 crew members.
I took this picture of our ship in Grand Turk our first port of call.

We didn’t see much of Miami, but from a distance it was very pretty and hot!

Our first full day on the ship was a sea day. It is very crowded around the pool on these days and hard to find a nice place to relax. We quickly discovered the adult only serenity deck. We scored a hammock to relax and take a nap on.

Each night we went to dinner in the dining room. This night we had to dress up.

I spent some time curling my hair and wanting to look nice, but the weather had other plans. You can see how windy it was outside on the deck. Needless to say the curls quickly fell out!

Later that night we went to one of the nightly shows. In the preshow performance one of the performers pick up our camera and started taking pictures with us. He then moved me to a different seat and moved another girl by Grant.

Our first port of call was Grand Turk. We had scheduled a snorkeling adventure. This was the first time for us both to snorkel. It took me a few minutes to catch on to how I was suppose to breathe. We both had a blast doing this and wish we had a few extra hours to look around. Our guide caught a shark and we both were able to swim over and touch it. Unfortunately we were not able to take a picture of it.

After snorkeling we rode on our boat to a little island to hold stingrays. We got a very quick lesson on how to act when one comes around. We got in line for the guide to help us hold it. It even massaged our backs.

After we got back to the dock we went to the ship to change and eat a quick and free lunch. Then we headed back out to look at the local shops and play on the beach. We chose the side of the beach where there were not many other people. Grant is looking for shells. They were hard to find.

The next port of call was Ocho Richo Jamaica. We climbed a 600 foot water fall.

We had an amazing guide up the waterfall. He took my camera and kept it dry while I climbed. He then stopped to take pictures of us along the way. The picture below was at the beginning of our climb. The guide wanted us to get wet before we started. Can you tell the water was a little cold at the beginning?

If you look closely at the top left of the picture you can see people climbing the waterfall. Our guide took us to the right. It seemed a little more difficult that way but we made it fine.

They had everyone in our group hold hands as we climbed. It kept us from falling and let us know where exactly to step. The water was pretty strong in some places so we had to be careful not to get knocked down. In one spot it was pretty deep and people had the chance to slide down and rock and swim. Grant did it but I was just glad to be standing!
There were a few spot to get out and I was tempted to quit but I’m glad a finished.

After Dunn River Falls we took a bus to Dolphin Cove. It was a place that people went to swim with the dolphins. Our tour included a stop here but Grant and I couldn’t figure out why if we weren’t planning on spending more money to swim with them. I did get to hold this bird for a few seconds.

We had an another day at sea and then went to Nassau. We didn’t have anything planned for this port of call. We took a ferry boat to Paradise Island to lay on the beach. We kind of got lost on the island getting to a public beach. We definitely took the long way around but had a good time when we got there.
The picture below is of the Atlantis resort. We walked through on our way back to the ferry. The thing that looks like a bridge between the buildings is actually a suite that is extremely expensive to stay in.

Grant and I really enjoyed swimming in the ocean! It was a cloudy day and we didn’t have to worry about getting a sunburn.

The one disadvantage to the public beach is everyone trying to sell you something while relaxing.
We had a wonderful trip but we missed our kids so much! We are glad to be home and are very thankful to our family for taking care of them while we were gone.
