Sensational Weekend in St. Louis

One of the most memorable moments of this trip for me happened in the ninth inning of the ball game. Hayden had had his fill of the game and was ready to go. So I took him out to walk around. He was so tired it didn't take long for him to want me to hold him. We went to stand right behind the seat to see the game. A younger man (probably in his early 20's) came and stood too close to me. I felt like he was about to pick pocket me. I moved over to the other side of the aisle. I eyed him pretty close and we made eye contact. I continue to watch him being very cautious. Behind him now was a souvenir stand with a stuffed animals hanging off. I watched as he tried to steal it. He saw me watching and walked away. The game ended and I met up with Grant and Layken. As they were walking to us I saw the man again put the same stuffed animal under his t-shirt. He looked up at me and said, "That really nice isn't it." I replied but I am not sure what I said because I was in shock. I couldn't believe the man was stupid enough to come back. He walked away and I told the lady at the stand what had happened. She quickly pulled all the merchandise within view. I know that I was sheltered growing up but I still can't believe what people will go through to steal something so little.

We made really good time traveling. We didn't really run into traffic until the were close to the stadium. I thought this was a cool picture of the arch.

Hayden's first view of the ball park.

Layken's first view of the ballpark.

Hayden was really thirsty. He didn't want the now warm juice that we brought for him. He drank the whole cup of sprite.

Can you tell that this little boy was exhausted and didn't have a good nap.
Since he was so tired he didn't want his picture taken. He wanted his "Mommeeee."

Oh wait maybe he didn't want me after all. :)

Layken on the other hand was great posing for pictures.

After the game we needed to eat a quick supper. No one was really hungry but we knew better than to just skip supper all together. Not knowing the city very well we but well enough to know that anything close to the stadium would be packed we decided to walk a few blocks to find some place convenient. Grant and I had stayed at Union Station before and thought that would be a great place to stop. The last time we walked there we didn't have a two year old with out a stroller or a tired eleven year old. Needless to say we were all glad to find it and eat. We were even more excited when we found our hotel and were able to relax our tired feet.
Both kids seemed to really wake up when we got back to the hotel.

After a good night sleep we were ready for the zoo.

I tried to run ahead of these two to get a good picture but they were to fast for me. I still think they are both cute.

Doesn't it look like Hayden is trying to jump the fence? He was really just interested in something on the ground.

Quiet Weekend

We have had a nice and quiet weekend. Friday afternoon we spent outside. We even went to the park after Grant come home. Saturday we went and visited family. Before the day was over Hayden was running a fever. He woke up Sunday morning at 3:30 with a cough and high fever so we have been home all day today.

This is Hayden's scared pose. Whenever Hayden is scared he puts his arms up like this and shakes. It amazes me as he develops new fears. Right now he is scared of a jack in the box, tickle me elmo, and when Grant hids and Hayden wants to find him.

Hayden also doesn't like to get his hands dirty. I am going to have to change this.

Hayden has always had to stick his tongue out when he is concentrating.

Happy Easter. I took a lot of pictures this weekend, and this is not even close to all of them. I think that they speak for themselves. Enjoy the picture parade!!

The Perfect Spring Day

Yesterday we had a beautiful day. I had to do some much needed shopping. I hate to admit but I did not have his Easter outfit yet. With school and landscaping I just haven't found time to break away and go. So I packed up my boy and we headed to Paducah.
Hayden slept all the way there which was a blessing. He was perfectly content in his stroller while I was shopping. He loves to people watch as long as they are not watching him. We went to Chick-fil-a for lunch and then even grabbed a cookie for dessert.
After shopping I planned on taking him to the Noble Park in Paducah becasue it was gorgeous outside. I drove there to find out that it was closed for tree repair. Stupid ice storm! I decided to just head home and then play it by ear. Hayden once again fell asleep and I was even able to transfer him from the car to his bed without waking him up. He slept for a good hour and a half allowing me to put all the groceries and clothes away and even have a little time for myslef.
When he woke up I decided to find a park here in Mayfield. The first two I drove by were packed, but the small one behind the YMCA was empty. I couldn't believe we got so lucky. Here are a few pictures of our late afternoon fun.

I just love this boy's smile.

Since this was a small playground they didn't have any toddler swings. Hayden seemed to enjoy this one but wouldn't stay in it for very long. He did really enjoy swinging on my lap though.

I got so many good pictures it was hard to decide which ones to post.

We got home about the same time as Daddy did from work, so we made a quick supper and headed outside again. Both Hayden and Daddy mowed the lawn.

I wanna Rock!

Yesterday morning we had four and a half tons of rock delivered to our driveway. We elected to have rock in our new landscaping rather than mulch. Plus we got a really good deal on it. This picture of the rock does not do it justice. When it arrived it didn't look like it was very much, but after four hours later and a sore back I was tired of rock.

Here is the finished product. I think we did a pretty good job.

After we finished with the rock we dyed some eggs with Hayden. I think I was more excited about it than anyone else. This is Hayden kissing the egg after it had been colored.

I was trying to get Hayden to look at me and smile but he was concentrating on holding on to all the eggs.

Grammy came to play with Hayden while Grant and I spread rock. They had so much fun together.
