Visit With Good Friends!

Saturday evening we were blessed to spend time with a college friend.  Kwangjo lived next door to Grant when he lived at the Christian center.  Since graduating he has moved to California.  He came in this past week with his family!  We were excited that he wanted to come over.  

They brought Addyson some traditional Korean clothing.  This outfit is to be worn on the new year or other special holidays.  They also brought one that she can wear when she is in elementary school. 

Hayden and Addyson loved playing with Nicole and Michael.  They played so well together.  We ate supper and played on the xbox. 

I’m so happy they were able to come over and maybe someday we can travel to California and visit them. 

First snow of the season

 

There is nothing like the first snow of the season!  We didn’t get as much as expected but it really didn’t matter to the kids.  They were super excited to get out and play. 

I love the look on Hayden’s face!

I was surprised that Hayden was the first one to ask to go in.  The wind was blowing hard and he wanted some hot chocolate.  Addyson wanted to stay outside much longer! 

Christmas with Family

We had a fun day with our family.  Here are a few pictures of our day. 

Christmas Morning

I was very impressed with Hayden.  He didn’t wake up until 5:45.  I thought he would be up much earlier.  He waited patiently until 6:00 when we agreed we would wake Addyson up.  She is such a great sleeper!

I let the kids look down to see if Santa brought them anything.  I think they liked what they saw. 

Santa brought Addsyon a Barbie jeep and some dress up clothes. 

Hayden got a cool bulldozer and some small Legos. 

In their stockings they found some new movies, socks, and candy.  Candy was of course Addyson’s favorite of the morning. 

Christmas morning is so busy because we have to get dressed and head to Granny Orr’s house for breakfast.  As Grant and I were getting ready I found both kids coloring on their humongous coloring books.  Both were so happy!

Christmas Eve

I love Christmas Eve because it is time with just our immediate family.  We spent the morning relaxing.  When the kids woke up from nap they spent some time in the garage jumping on their inflatable.  When they were starting to argue we switched gears and started making cookies for Santa.

I don’t have a cookie press right now so we had to roll the dough out and use cookie cutters.  This was the first year I let Addyson free with the sprinkles. 

Addyson took “sparkling” the cookies very seriously. 

After cookie decorating we had finger foods for supper and watched Christmas movies.  Right before bed the kids went out and fed the reindeer and set out the cookies and milk for Santa!  I love these time with my family!

 

Decorating the Tree

This is an activity I did with my school kids but I knew Hayden and Addyson would enjoy as well.  For them I covered the ice cream cone in green icing and then they were able to decorate it. 

If you notice the hand in the next picture you will notice the kids weren’t the only ones who wanted to participate.  I just wasn’t allowed to take a picture of anything else.   I think the trees turned out pretty good and the kids are looking forward to eating them after nap!

Christmas Performances 2012

 

The kids have been working hard practicing for all their Christmas performances they had this week.  They started on Tuesday with Hayden’s Christmas musical.

They were singing about going to Branson Missouri to help Santa.  Hayden did a great job watching Ms. Beth and signing. 

Wednesday night both Hayden and Addyson sang for the church.  The past couple of Sunday afternoons they have spent practicing these songs.  Last Sunday they went to a nursing home in Mayfield to sing to the elderly. 

It was hard to get good picture because everyone wanted up close.  I was proud that both kids got up there and sang so good. 

Thursday afternoon was Addyson’s turn.  She sang the 12 days of Christmas.  For everyday they had a different action.  Addyson had the twirling and the partridge and the pear tree down pat. 

After the song the kids passed out presents to their parents and we enjoyed milk and cookies.

Orr Christmas

 

After a short nap we headed over to Dede and Poppy’s house for the Orr Christmas celebration.  We ate a wonderful turkey and dressing dinner!  These two girls were ready to open presents as soon as the plates were cleared. 

Hayden and Addyson are in Poppy’s new chair. He sure was surprised when he came in and saw it!

Being the youngest Addyson got to open her presents first.  She was such a ham last night opening.  She enjoyed all the attention. 

She received a Nabi, a child friendly tablet from Dede and Poppy.  Hayden was a little bit jealous when she opened it.  Addyson didn’t really want to open any other presents after it either. 

You may wonder what put such a smile on Addyson’s face. 

The moment she stepped into these silver sparkly book she couldn’t quit smiling.  You can just look at her face to know how they made her feel. 

 

Hayden was eager to start opening presents after watching Addyson.  He received a new tractor and a john deer shirt.  He had to change immediately. 

Hayden is yelling to Addyson that he got a Nabi too!  I couldn’t imagine if just one of them had gotten one and the other had not.  They both played it all morning before church today. 

While we were waiting to open presents Layken was trying to guess what were in her boxes.  When she got to the one we gave her she guess something and Addyson blurts out, “No Layken it is pajamas.”  At least we know now that she can’t keep a secret. 

Layken couldn’t believe that she actually got a printer!  I love the look on her face!

Yes, I did let some one take a picture of me.  Even the grownups had fun opening gifts!
