Hayden was diagnosed with the rotavirus this afternoon. This all started Wednesday morning. I had to go pick him up from day care because he was vomiting. When I got him home he slept for a good long time and then the diarrhea and fever started.
When I talked to the nurse this morning she was concerned with him becoming dehydrated so she wanted me to bring him in. When we arrived he still had a temperature of 102 and even had a dirty diaper. This turned out lucky because they could use the diaper to test for rotavirus. We didn't even make it home before the Dr. called and confirmed the diagnosis.
I didn't know much about this virus before today. I didn't realize how contagious it is and how important it will be to keep Hayden hydrated for the next several days. The doctor is going to call in the morning to check to see if he is urinating. If he hasn't then she is likely to put him in the hospital. I don't want that. I just can't bring myself to take of a picture of him like this, he just looks so pathetic.
I have made jello, bought popsicles, and have pedialyte. What are some other things that I can do for the boy while he is not eating? Any suggestions are appreciated.

We used a spoon and pedialyte or gatorade. Just kept spooning it in. We took our time with it, but it kept Madeleine hydrated. Luckily this virus seems to pass fairly fast. I think he'll be contagious for 3 days after it's over though. I know your house is WAY cleaner than mine will ever be, but disinfect everything. Light switches, etc. It's such a nasty virus, isn't it? I'm so sorry that you're having to deal with it. It'll be over soon. We're thinking about you !
Thinking of you and pray that the sickness will be over soon. We miss you and hope Hayden is feeling better.
